A native of Buffalo, NY, trumpeter David McCabe has established himself in the New England region as a performer and educator. David is a graduate of The Hartt School of Music at The University of Hartford, holding a Bachelor of Music Degree in Trumpet Performance and Music Education. At Hartt, David studied trumpet with Kevin Cobb of the famed American Brass Quintet, and Greg Whitaker, noted Boston freelancer. While at Hartt, David performed chamber and orchestral works, and was coached by Jay Lichtmann of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra. David spent two summers as a student at the Bay View Music Festival in Petoskey, MI, where he performed brass chamber music in Northern Michigan. Locally, David has recently worked with the Hartford Independent Chamber Orchestra, Hartford Opera Theatre, and a number of chamber ensembles throughout New England.
In addition to his performance career, McCabe holds a Teaching Certificate in Music Education from the State of Connecticut, and is entering his second year as Adjunct Faculty of Trumpet at Bay Path University in Longmeadow, MA, and spent three years teaching trumpet and general music with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra’s “CityMusic” program, an El-Sistema- inspired outreach project in inner-city Hartford. Outside of the concert hall or classroom, David enjoys a variety of hobbies in the outdoors.
